The Flexible Handy Air Hose Reel
The polyurethane or rubber flexible pipe and tube you use to supply compressed gas to activate a pneumatic tool need an air hose reel to protect it from possible cuts, scrapes, and abrasions. Apart from this protection, it also helps keep your garage or shop floor free from crisscrossing pipes [...]

High Pressure Air Compressor Hose
Where there is a need for pressurized gas you are likely find an air compressor hose. This is necessary in order to deliver the gas from the machine pumping it to where it is needed. This could be to a surface-supplied deep sea diver, pneumatic tools such as nail and staple [...]

The Convenience of a Retractable Air Hose
Before the advent of the retractable air hose, garages and shops that operate several air compressors for their various pneumatic tools used to have a floor covered with intersecting and sometimes intertwining flexible tubes. Thanks to the wheel-like reels around which the tubes are either automatically or manually wound, [...]

The Light Polyurethane Air Hose Works
A polyurethane air hose is generally lighter than one made of synthetic rubber or even polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It is highly resilient, flexible, and resistant to abrasions, snags, and kinks allowing it to perform well under a variety of harsh conditions. It also resists oil and other chemicals.
Generally, flexible tubes [...]

Added Strength with a Rubber Air Hose
In spite of the availability of new raw materials for the assembly of gas tubes and pipes such as polyvinyl chloride and polyurethane, a rubber air hose is still very much favored among those who operate pneumatic tools. It could be made either of natural or synthetic material.
These tubes [...]

The Common Use of Air Hose Connectors
Air hose connectors, as the name implies, are small gadgets or devices that allow a flexible tube or pipe to be linked with compressors on one end of the tube, as well as with other devices that facilitate the delivery of compressed gas on its opposite end. This end [...]

Basic Design of Air Hose Couplers
Air hose couplers are short pipes or tubes, about two inches long, whose basic function is to link two other pipes or tubes in order to attain a longer reach. The outside diameter of the latter two tubes matches the inner diameter of the former, thus minimizing if not eliminating [...]

The Quality Goodyear Air Hose is a Favorite
It would seem inevitable that the company that built its reputation on its excellent tires would venture into the production of the Goodyear air hose as these involve the use of rubber, both natural and synthetic. Today, the company offers a long list of models of their flexible [...]

Air hoses are a necessary accessory of compressors so they can deliver compressed air to your pneumatic tools. They can, however, be difficult to keep neat and organized especially if they are quite long. A convenient solution to this is a Legacy L8560 Air Hose Reel with Workhorse PVC Air Hose.
The L8560 is an [...]

The practice of conveying fluids using tubular materials began as early as 2,500 years ago when firefighters fastened ox gut to bags filled with water, then stomped or sat on the bags to force the water into the gut and into the fire. By the late 1800s, rubber-lined hoses were in use, and with the [...]

Polyurethane has been around since the 1940s. It comes in different forms such as an insulator, thermoplastic, or elastomer. Insulators are extremely flexible, thermoplastics are rigid, while elastomers are elastic but maintains some rigidity. It is this form of polyurethane that is used in creating the Hitachi 19413F Polyurethane Air Hose.
Being made from polyurethane, the [...]

Made of strong and sturdy synthetic leather, the Goodyear Plicor Air Green 400 air hose is designed to withstand the harsh environments of not only industrial plants and construction sites but mines and quarries as well.
Like most air hoses of this type, the Air Green 400 consists of an inner tube, a reinforcing fabric, and [...]
High Pressure Air Hose Materials
An air hose is a tool that conveys layers of gasses from one source to any desired point or terminus. The delivery of such gasses could either be assisted by a compressor or simply rely on atmospheric pressure. When a compressor is used, the volume of the gas is constricted thereby increasing its pressure. Such an increase allows the gas to pass quickly through narrow passages within pipes. In the case of the latter, gas flows more slowly from the open end of the tube to the delivery point. Suction from the end point may be necessary to induce the flow of the gas. You can find more information on how to buy air compressors here.
Different materials may be used in the manufacturing of an air hose. Among the more common is polyurethane. Polyurethane, abbreviated PU, is a polymer that consists of organic units joined by urethane links. These can be made into flexible and highly resilient tubes that are lightweight and abrasion resistant. These can be operated up to 40°F without any loss of its flexibility.
Rubber is also commonly used. Like the polyurethane, rubber is also flexible and abrasion resistant. However, rubber is able to handle higher temperatures, even up to 200°F, and pressure of up to 300 psi. These types are usually attached to compressors that supply power to nail guns, staplers, and pneumatic wrenches.
Polyvinyl chloride or PVC is also a popular material for an air hose. It is a thermoplastic polymer used in a huge variety of applications. With the addition of plastics PVC is rendered flexible yet durable. PVC tubes designed to withstand pressures reaching up to 145 psi are usually constructed with several plies. The outer and inner layers of the tubes could be made of PVC with a reinforced ply and a bond ply in between. These help in holding down pressurized gas.

Among the materials used to manufacture air hoses is nylon. Nylon was developed as early as the 1930s as a substitute for silk. It was created by DuPont Chemical Company from petroleum products. Nylon is lightweight, durable, and resistant to damage. It also has good tensile strength. It is because of these characteristics that nylon [...]

With the invention of machines that can compress air at very high pressures and the ability to harness it to make our tasks easier and quicker is an achievement that has revolutionized the way we work. Heavy objects are lifted without too much muscle, nails are driven and bolts are tightened with a slight pull [...]
